Limonene Stand

June 30, 2011

It is time for a summer challenge: Get in your car and drive down the street. I bet you won’t make it out of your neighborhood without seeing a child’s lemonade stand. Aren’t they the reason we keep a few extra quarters in our car? For a meager 50 cents you can buy an escape from summer’s squelching heat. If only it were that easy to soothe and protect our internal systems. Each day we are bombarded with free radicals, pesticides, and other external stresses. Nature’s plan for defending us against these forces comes in the form of antioxidants—and there are few antioxidants more powerful than d-limonene.
D-limonene was named after lemon because of the high concentrations of this constituent found in the rind. A powerful antioxidant, d-limonene is known to boost immune function and protect cells, and has traditionally been used for weight loss and to treat bronchitis.
High concentrations of d-limonene are found in the following Young Living citrus-derived products:
  • Grapefruit essential oil—Fresh, citrus aroma known to energize and uplift when feeling stressed or unhappy. Creates the sense of fullness when used in conjunction with a healthy weight-management system.
  • Lemon essential oil—Strong, citrus aroma that refreshes and stimulates the mind, improves memory, promotes a sense of well-being, and works as an insect repellant. It is also useful as a cleaning aid.
  • Orange essential oil—Rich, fruity aroma that lifts the spirit while providing a calming influence. It also encourages positive emotions.
  • Tangerine essential oil—Sweet, tangy aroma known to help with occasional nervous irritability and promote a sense of security.
My favorite usage tips:
  • Add to food or rice as a dietary supplement.
  • Add to soy milk or a smoothie as flavoring.
  • Add to lemonade for variety and depth.
Let’s not let children hold the corner market on this summer treat. It is time for each of us to enjoy the benefits of having our own d-limonene stand. Isn’t our health worth more than 50 cents?
Please reply with your favorite YL citrus essential oil. Make sure to include your favorite way to use it.

e Power of Ecuador: Ocotea and Dorado Azul, part 2

June 24, 2011

Dorado azul is recognized largely for its role in respiratory support. This essential oil can be used in many situations to support in the sinuses or lungs. Not surprisingly, dorado azul has high levels of eucalyptol and has a long history of use in folk medicine. The dorado azul plant has been used historically as a daily, mild beverage—especially during the fall and winter months. Today, many users comment that dorado azul provides as much respiratory support as mint and eucalyptus. Users also observe that this Ecuador oil delivers comparable results without the intensity and discomfort sometimes experienced with other oils.
In addition to its respiratory benefits, dorado azul is proving to be a very effective ingredient in essential oil blends that repel insects and pests. In fact, there is the existing literature that promotes the use of dorado azul as an insecticide that can be used to protect stored grain from moths and weevils. Try placing a few cotton balls saturated with dorado azul in food storage areas to protect items from destructive insects.
Both dorado azul and ocotea essential oils have a balanced and broad chemistry. They wield noteworthy levels of what scientists currently consider the “active” ingredients: ocotea contains substantial levels of cinnamaldehyde and beta-caryophyllene; dorado azul is high in eucalyptol. Could it be that when it comes to function and results, Mother Nature knows best? For decades, cinnamon, clove, mint, and eucalyptus have been largely cultivated, managed, and controlled in order to contain the chemical profile that science deems desirable. However, these Ecuador plant species have continued to grow, evolve, and thrive in the wilds of the Amazon basin. It seems that the remarkably rich soil in the fertile Amazon basin may produce higher-quality oil.
Gary Young and the staff at Young Living’s Ecuador farm, Finca Botanica Aromatica, are very hands-on with the production of dorado azul and ocotea. As they continue to research and experiment with these unique offering, there is no doubt that essential oil enthusiasts around the world will benefit from their hard work and dedication!
Godspeed in your quest for health,

The Power of Ecuador: Ocotea and Dorado Azul, part 1

June 21, 2011
Don’t tell their famous plant relatives, but Ecuador oils ocotea and dorado azul have it where it counts. In fact, broader use of these oils is revealing remarkable and intriguing therapeutic distinction.
Both ocotea (Ocotea quixos) and dorado azul (Hyptis suaveolens) belong to plant families with storied functional and therapeutic reputations. Ocotea comes from the Lauraceae family (cinnamon, bay laurel, etc.); dorado azul comes from the Lamiaceae family (mint, sage, spice oils). These oils from the Amazon basin share many phytochemical properties and functions that have made their relatives some of the most widely used and valued oils throughout the world. However, very little was known about how the specific qualities of these Ecuador species might compare to their famous cousins until Young Living’s founder, Gary Young, took an interest.
Gary was intrigued by the initial phytochemical analysis of these species and was encouraged by his assessment of the growing conditions and sustainability. But what impressed him the most was when he and others started to apply the oils. The words used again and again were “balanced chemistry” and “balanced physical and emotional response.” These promising beginnings have expanded dramatically as Young Living’s vast distributor force has begun implementing these oils. Their experiences are changing the world of essential oil therapy. Again and again knowledgeable and experienced essential oils practitioners are reporting improved therapeutic results with ocotea and dorado azul.
The results using ocotea internally for maintaining healthy blood sugar levels have been especially remarkable. Thousands of people report that ocotea is invaluable as a weight-management tool. Its blood-sugar balancing effect helps curb appetite and prevent binging. It can also help restore balance if someone happens to consume too many high-sugar foods.
The science is clear: blood sugar spikes unleash a devastating biochemical cascade, which causes a host of problems. No wonder balanced blood sugar can have dramatic, positive effects such as improved mood, improved immunity, and improved inflammatory response—just to name a few. Of note is that many who have had success using cinnamon essential oil for its blood sugar maintenance effect are reporting improved results with ocotea. In addition most find ocotea less caustic or irritating on sensitive tongue, skin, and digestive tissues. This gentler response further ensures success by dramatically increasing usability and compliance. This is especially impressive when one considers that ocotea is a kinder, friendlier cinnamon but still delivers serious microbiological activity.
Godspeed in your quest for health,

NingXia Red And Other Young Living Products Deliver Age-Defying Benefits

Wellness Essentials:

Summertime elicits memories of our childhood - vacations on the beach, endless days out-doors, and invincible youth and vitality. We thought we would be young forever, and we ignored the warnings of excess sun and the formation of fine lines. What seems like only a few summers later, we realize that those fine lines are in fact wrinkles! We are actually getting older, and the endless summer is over. Or is it?

The most sought-after products by aging baby boomers are age-defying skin care products and cosmetics that promise to reverse signs of aging. Fortunately, most senior boomers realize a key concept; youth begins on the inside. In addition to applying creams and serums, they also take health supplements to feel younger and look healthier.

Overcoming Obstacles ~
A NingXia Red Testimonial From Tom Turner:

Evidence suggests that the most effective age-defying substances known are antioxidants. Colorful fruits and vegetables-five to ten servings per day-will supply protection against oxidation, the process of imbalanced molecules damaging healthy cells, commonly referred to as free radical damage. In our toxic environment, oxidation occurs at a rapid-fire speed from poor diet, sun exposure, air pollution and contaminated water. And in reality, few people follow the dietary recommendations to guard against oxidation with in the body

NingXia Red and Longevity: The Secret In A BottleIn 2002, Young Living launched a truly unique product, Longevity™ soft gel capsules. Unlike most supplements, Longevity is a proprietary blend of pure essential oils, including thyme, orange, and clove. At its inception, people believed that this supplement helped to merely inhibit bacteria, fungus, and viruses, thus protecting them from common illnesses. However, a key detail of the thyme essential oil in this age-resisting product remained a mystery. Another look at Longevity will pique the interest of all who are interested in preventing some of the negative effects of aging

Support and Strengthen Your Immune System

Balancing, supporting, and strengthening the human immune system to protect the body from toxins, viruses, and bacteria requires a multifaceted approach.

  • Drink Plenty of Clean Water F. Batmanghelidj, MD wrote a book, Your Body's Many Cries for Water, in which he paints a convincing case that chronic, unintentional dehydration is at the root of many of our more serious maladies. Dr. Batmanghelidj argues that most of us are chronically dehydrated, and we have to discipline ourselves to drink water to avoid this. If you drink water only when you feel thirsty, it's too late- you are already dehydrated. In addition, as you get older, your sense of thirst doesn't work properly. Drink at least 8-10 eight-ounce glasses (two quarts) of water per day for starters. Work up to the amount calculated with this formula. Body weight in pounds divided by 2. Drink this number in ounces of water. For example if you weight 150 pounds, you should drink 75 ounces of water per day at a minimum. A gradual increase in your water intake - not juices, not tea, not coffee, - has enormous healing potential.

  • Exercise - Get your body moving If the physiological benefits of exercise could be put in a pill, you would perhaps have the most powerful anti-aging medication available. Exercise improves virtually everything about your health, from your mood to your intestinal function. Yes, believe it or not, exercise helps to eliminate constipation! The benefits of exercise on your mood are substantial. Physical activity produces the most powerful mood elevators in your body, called endorphins. Try this simple program. Commit yourself to becoming more active one day at a time. Find an activity you enjoy and get moving for 20 minutes every day. Make it a social event. Find a friend or two who wish to start an activity/exercise program. Meet them 3 time per week for the exercise session. Try walking. Everyone can do it, no special equipment, can do it anywhere. Variety is important. Include stretching, weight training and aerobics.

  • Eat Healthy Foods as close to nature as possible. Eat whole foods with a minimal amount of processing. Select organic food whenever possible.

  • Use Nutritional Supplements Many people think that eating a balanced diet provides all the vitamins and minerals you need. The truth is that very few people follow a perfectly healthy diet, and the environment in which we live is hardly ideal. From toxins in our food, water and air, our bodies have a heavy burden to overcome, and even a healthy diet can't completely compensate. You can't assume that the food you're eating contains all the nutrients you need, or in high enough amounts. Any food's nutrient content depends on the soil in which it was grown, the length of time it was grown, how it was processed and stored, and the manner in which is was cooked. Most people don't eat 4-5 servings of fruits and vegetables daily. Studies confirm that only 10% on us get the hardly adequate recommended daily allowance (RDA) of essential nutrients.

Use these products to support your immune system:
Exodus - capsules contains Uncaria tomentosa, a source of alkaloids that have been researched for their ability to support immune function. Also included in this health supplement are echinacia, grape seed extract containing 92% proanthocyanidins, ionic minerals, yucca root, and many other supporting elements.

Air Fresheners: are they making you sick?

Some 75 percent of U.S. households use air fresheners, according to NRDC. The air freshener industry is now worth over $1.72 billion in the United States, a 50-percent increase over 2003.

It is estimated that 95% of chemicals used in fragrances are synthetic compounds derived from petroleum. It has also been estimated that more than 3000 different chemicals are used in fragrance production.
Even some essential oils are not entirely natural (the cheap aromatherapy oils sold in stores) as harsh chemicals are used in their extraction process. Chemical solvents such as hexane and heptane are used to extract the maximum amount of essential oil from the plant, so it is important to buy high quality oils from a source you trust - such as Young Living Essential Oils.

Why are air fresheners making us sick?

Air Fresheners: can coat your nasal passages with an oil film and/or reduce your ability to smell odors. These products often contain Formaldehyde - a highly toxic material that can irritate eyes, nose, throat, and skin. High exposure can cause nausea, headaches, nosebleeds, dizziness, memory loss and shortness of breath. Other chemicals include Phenol, a skin irritant that can cause swelling, burning, and peeling. High doses of Phenol can also cause cold sweats, convulsions, circulatory collapse, coma, and even death.
The main toxin in room fresheners, urinal cakes, moth balls, paints, household cleaning products, and vehicle exhaust fumes is 1,4 dichlorobenzene (1,4 DCB).
A recent National Institute of Environmental Health Services (NIEHS) study published in Environmental Health Perspectives showed that among 953 adults 1,4 DCB was linked to a reduction in lung function. Check your household products, read the labels to see if they contain 1,4 DCB.
Even air fresheners marketed as "all-natural" or "unscented" contain hazardous chemicals.
The air fresheners the NRDC tested included aerosol sprays, liquids that emit a continuous scent, and a solid. Of the 14 products tested by NRDC, there was wide variation in the level of phthalates contained. Three of the 14 products had very high levels-more than 100 parts per million (ppm) including products that ranged from 360 ppm to 7,307 ppm.
In addition to phthalates, many air fresheners contain allergens, volatile organic compounds (VOCs) as well as cancer-causing chemicals such as benzene and formaldehyde.
Phthalates are found in a wide array of consumer products, including cosmetics and fragrances, pharmaceuticals, vinyl children's toys, automobiles and paints. Phthalates are known to interfere with production of testosterone and have been associated with reproductive abnormalities.
Because there are no labeling requirements it is virtually impossible for consumers to know which products may pose a risk.
A study of 14 common household air fresheners has found that most contain chemicals that can aggravate asthma and affect reproductive development, according to the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC). "There are too many products on the shelves that we assume are safe, but have never even been tested," said Dr. Gina Solomon, NRDC senior scientist. "The government should be keeping a watchful eye on these household items and the manufacturers who produce them."
The study assessed scented sprays, gels, and plug-in air fresheners. Independent lab testing confirmed the presence of phthalates, or hormone-disrupting chemicals that may pose a particular health risk to babies and young children, in 12 of the 14 products - including those marked "all natural." None of the products had these chemicals listed on their labels, according to the report. Pregnant women and children should avoid products that contain phthalates.

Kill Germs and Freshen Indoor Air Naturally

On the physical level, essential oils help combat biological contaminants by binding to the airborne molecules of fat that typically carry unpleasant odors. Citrus essential oils make terrific air fresheners around the home, kitchens, in offices, schools and public places and very few people object to the smell. Synthetic air fresheners, on the other hand, only mask the undesirable odors and often cause people o not feel well and complain about the odor.

From Ask Dr. Weil: Air Fresheners - are they bad for my health?

Q: I use air fresheners in my home, but have been told I shouldn't. Are they bad for my health?
A: It certainly looks like they are. Recent research strongly suggests that they raise your risk of a number of pulmonary diseases. Last year researchers found that being exposed to chemicals from air fresheners as little as once a week may increase your odds of developing asthma symptoms by 71 percent. And a 2006 study showed that people with high blood levels of the chemical 1,4 dichlorobenzene commonly found in air fresheners - were more likely to experience a decline in lung function.
Other studies point to a cancer link. University of California, Berkeley, researchers determined that, when used in small, poorly ventilated rooms, some air fresheners emit pollutants that create high levels of formaldehyde, a carcinogen shown to cause cancer in animals and respiratory irritation in humans.
Last year, the Natural Resources Defense Council evaluated 14 air fresheners, 12 of which had varying amounts of phthalates, chemicals that may affect fertility, cause cancer, and trigger developmental abnormalities in infants. The NRDC and other environmental groups filed a petition calling for all air freshener-related products to be tested for consumer safety and regulated by the government.
I recommend freshening the air by opening windows and eliminating the sources of unpleasant odors. If you enjoy aromas indoors, opt for natural items such as a lavender plant, potted herbs, or a bouquet of fresh flowers.
Andrew Weil, M.D., is a pioneer in the field of holistic health and founder and director of the Program in Integrative Medicine at the College of Medicine, University of Arizona. He received his medical training at Harvard University.

Wolfberry:™ The Perfect Antioxidant Food Source

Introducing Ning Xia Red Wolfberry Juice

Wolfberry:™ The Perfect Antioxidant Food Source

You are about to read of a nutritional food with amazing medical properties. Truly one of nature’s miracles, the Ningxia Wolfberry, known for thousands of years as a Chinese National Treasure, is the perfect food source for antioxidants. Wolfberries aid in the battle to neutralize the destructive compounds in your body, called free radicals.
Free radical production is actually a normal part of life, and usually, the body's natural defense systems neutralize free radicals that develop, rendering them harmless. However, environmental assaults on your body, such as UV-radiation, pollutants and alcohol, overpower your body's ability to neutralize free radicals, allowing them to cause damage to the structure and function of the body's cells. There is good evidence that free radical damage contributes to aging and leads to a host of illnesses, including degeneration of the brain and eyes, cancer and heart disease. Consuming a healthy diet, rich in antioxidants, helps provide the necessary tools to improve energy and vitality and neutralize harmful free radicals.

    ABOUT NINGXIA CHINA

NingXia, China (see map) is an extraordinary place where mineral rich soil and pure glacial water assist in producing one of nature’s true miracles. This miracle is the superior NingXia Wolf berry. The wolfberries that come from NingXia, China are widely known as the most nutrient-dense food on the planet. It is amazing that for centuries, very few people benefited from its nutrient power.
NingXia is a region as culturally rich as the entire area south of the Yangtze River, continues to be admired for its resplendent cultural heritage garnered from the long river of history. The national census in China recently reported that the number of Ningxia residents living more than 100 years exceeds the national average by an amazing 400%. It is no wonder that Ningxia, China is legendary for healthy people, little did they know the secret to their health was in the locally grown wolfberries.

NOT ALL WOLFBERRIES ARE CREATED EQUAL

It’s true, not all wolfberries are the same. The 3 most potent berries in the Wolfberry family are Chinese Xinjiang wolfberries, Tibetan Goji berries, and Ningxia wolfberries.

These wolfberries have been used in traditional Chinese
    culture for over 5,000 years!
Wolfberries have been renowned for their wide range of health benefits by Ancient Chinese medical texts. The people who consumed the wolfberry fruit lived free of common diseases like arthritis, cancer and diabetes, as well as increasing their average life expectancy to over 100 years!
Wolfberries have been rated the food with the highest antioxidant ability, registering in at an amazing 3,472 ORAC units per fluid ounce. As a reference point of some of the other highest forms of ORAC are Vitamin E oil at 3,309, Pomegranate fruit at 3,037, blueberries 2,400 and raspberries 1,220.
Laboratory test rate the antioxidant levels of fruits and vegetables. Wolfberry is rated very high compared to other known sources of antioxidant food in the world.
Scientists have discovered that NingXia Wolfberries are a Powerful Immune-Supporting Agent, agents, as verified by modern scientists. Ningxia wolfberries have been found to have extremely high levels of immune-stimulating polysaccharides. Ningxia wolfberries are also an astonishing 16 to 17 percent protein by weight.
PROVEN, not pretending. NingXia Red® not only claims to be one of a kind, it has the numbers and the research to prove it. After all, your health is too important to trust with products only pretending to be something extraordinary.
S-ORAC measures a product’s ability to destroy the most dangerous amongst the free-radicals – Superoxide. Free radicals are linked to heart disease, cancer, arthritis, and asthma. Our bodies spend a lot of energy defending themselves from disease, outside poisons, toxins… superoxides.

These so-called "popular drinks" don’t compare to NingXia Red®’s

But what does that all mean? To get the same benefit as
drinking just 1 oz of NingXia Red®…

Beeswax Essential Oil Insect Repellent Candle

June 7, 2011 in Aromatherapy by Evelyn Vincent

Basil and Cinnamon Bark essential oilsRepelling insects naturally, without chemicals, using essential oils, aromatherapy, is a terrific way to be more ‘Green’ this summer. You will need to keep in mind that not all essential oils are created equally, 98% of what’s on the market is junk and will never produce desirable results, nor will they help those who prefer more eco-friendly lifestyle achieve their goals.
This easy recipe is terrific for making beeswax candles for your own backyard patio, or as a hostess gift for summer picnic’s and barbecues.
The moulds that you choose for the shape of your candle can be made of simple re-purposed items such as paper towel rolls (peel the paper cardboard off when wax has hardened), small Mason jars, or a small terra cotta pot, see what you have available around the house to re-purpose.
Essential Oil Insect Repellent Beeswax Candle Recipe
    You will need:
    • Mould (see my ideas above, or get creative with your own ideas) – the size of the mould determines how many candles you can make, this recipe should make 4 candles using the tiny terra cotta pots)
    • Beeswax (one brick)
    • 2 TBSP Carrier Oil (olive oil)
    • Candle Wick (cut a little longer than the length of your mould)
    • 7-10 drops (total alone or combined) Young Living Essential Oil (see mosquito repellent list below)
Place the wick in your desired mould. Over low heat, slowly melt the beeswax in a double boiler. Add your desired essential oil(s). Pour the beeswax mixture into the mould with wick, making sure the the wick stays centered during pouring. Let stand until wax is firm.

    Sacred Frankincense (Boswellia sacra)

Now From Young Living Distillery in Oman
Sacred Frankincense Essential Oil (Boswellia sacra) comes from the Boswellia sacra frankincense tree and is distilled at the Young Living distillery in Oman.
Boswellia carterii is also very therapeutic. Boswellia frereana is highly fragrant and is usually used for burning and fragrances and has little or no therapeutic value. Boswellia frereana belongs in the perfume industry.
Gary Young has spent 25 years learning and traveling to the countries where frankincense is harvested. He has spent this time learning from the very best so he can know which species of frankincense and other oils are of the highest therapeutic quality.

How to Protect your Family from Flu and Viruses with Thieves Oil
Young Living's Thieves essential oil blend was created based on the historical story of four thieves in Europe who protected themselves from the black plague with cloves, rosemary, and other aromatics while robbing victims of the killer disease. When captured, they were offered a lighter sentence in exchange for their secret recipe. In modern days, these same herbs and essential oils have been found to be an effective barrier against topical and airborne microorganisms. Read More > >

As one of the world’s leading growers and distillers of aromatic plants for essential oils, Gary Young has long understood that guaranteeing oil quality is not just a matter of subjecting essential oils to analytical equipment; it starts with an intensive understanding of the collectors and growers of the herbs, inspecting fields, monitoring distillation, and collecting samples. This is why Gary Young has insisted on visiting and inspecting all farms and facilities providing essential oils to Young Living. Read More > >

Experience Amazing Benefits of True Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils
Therapeutic grade essential oils are extremely concentrated particularly when they have been derived through distillation, which is the most effective method of extraction. Because essential oils are so highly concentrated, most of them are at least 50 times more therapeutically potent than the herbs or plants they came from. When herbs are cut & dehydrated for therapeutic use, they can lose as much as 90% of the healing nutrients as well as the vast majority of the vital oxygen molecules. Not so with essential oils, which are many times more potent than dried herbs. Most of the essential oils you find in health food stores are so low in quality and full of adulterations, you would be shocked. Even essential oils labeled as "PURE" are not what they seem. There is a very big difference between the low quality essential oils and true therapeutic grade essential oils. Young Living Essential Oils is the World Leader in Essential Oils and have set the standard for purity and quality. Every batch of oils is rigorously tested by independent laboratories before being sold to customers. You are protected by Young Living's unconditional guarantee of purity and quality. To be able to certify completely the high grade of his oils, Gary Young has taken the ultimate step: he has developed his own farms and his own distillation techniques to guarantee the top quality he seeks. He has become a true pioneer in developing these operations in the United States. Young Living prides itself on promoting healthy living supplemented by essential oils. Essential Oil Tip: Freshen Air Naturally

Using Young Living's therapeutic grade essential oils in your home environment is a way to add oxygen and cut down on overgrowth of unwanted microbes such as fungus (mold and mildew), pathogenic viruses, and bacteria.
The best way to address unwanted things in your air is by using a cold-air nebulizer diffuser and therapeutic-grade Young Living essential oils undiluted.
A cold-air nebulizer diffuser puts a micro-fine mist of the essential oil into the air and allows the mist to permeate your room(s). Only cool air is used and recommended. Never use heat - such as a candle, burner, or a light bulb ring on your therapeutic oils. Heat destroys the therapeutic qualities of the essential oil - heat fractures the molecules.
Young Living Essential Oils is the world leader in production and is well known for setting the highest standards in the aromatherapy industry. Young Living Essential Oils is a company we trust and highly recommend.
Therapeutic essential oils also have well-documented antiviral, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties - to further improve indoor air quality. Learn more about diffusing.

Some powerful and relatively inexpensive essential oils that address unwanted pathogens are:
Singles: cinnamon*, clove*, lemon, eucalyptus, lavender, and the pine oils.
Blends: Thieves, Purification, Citrus Fresh (C.F. is not for mold)
*Note: cinnamon and clove are extremely powerful and should only be diffused for very short periods of time, 10 minutes or less if they are the only oils being diffused. It is best to add 2-6 drops of clove or cinnamon with 15-40 drops of another essential oil to help reduce the intensity. Never dilute essential oils with a carrier oil in a nebulizer diffuser as this could harm your diffuser.

    Essential Oils and the Seasons

During different times of the year certain scents benefit us emotionally, as well as, addressing issues that can occur more frequently during each season.

    Spring and Summer:

The light, refreshing essential oils are the most appropriate for optimal indoor air quality. These include: geranium, lavender, lemon, sandalwood, and the blend Citrus Fresh.

    Autumn and Winter:

These essential oils are warming, comforting scents: cypress, nutmeg, frankincense, and the blends Thieves, Purification, Evergreen Essence, Christmas Spirit, and Abundance.

Aromatherapy to Set the Mood for Every Room of Your Home

A calm Living Room: use oils like clary sage, bergamot, rose, jasmine, or the blend Peace & Calming.
To rouse couch potatoes: try stimulating oils like peppermint, lavender and orange combined, or the blend Evergreen Essence.
Bathrooms: to kill odors and germs, try: lemongrass, thyme, peppermint, and the blends Thieves, Purification or Citrus Fresh.
Bedrooms: for a restful sleep, try: lavender and valerian, chamomile, hyssop, or the blends Gentle Baby or Peace & Calming.
Sick room: to prevent the germs from spreading, try: lemongrass, thyme, cinnamon, clove, or the blends Thieves, R.C. or Ravensara.
Clear Negative Energy: after an argument or hard feelings, try: the blends Joy, Harmony, Clarity, Forgiveness or Grounding.
To Uplift Mood: try lavender and orange, or the blends Highest Potential, Magnify Your Purpose or Citrus Fresh.
Romance: try rose, sandalwood with jasmine, Ylang Ylang, patchouli, or the blend Sensation.

    Aromatherapy During the Winter

During the winter months there is usually a higher amount of air pollution and bacteria in the air than at other times due to an increase in the closed doors and windows and the fact that cold air keeps air pollution closer to the ground. This increased pollution can lead to respiratory issues for some. The anti-viral, anti-bacterial, and antiseptic properties of essential oils, along with the negative ions and oxygenating molecules which are released when essential oils are diffused all help to reduce bacteria
    in the air

    Basil essential oil

Basil essential oil has a strong, spicy aroma and can refresh the mind. Basil pure essential oil soothes the body, and helps restore mental alertness during times of fatigue. When applied topically, basil oil can relax tired, aching muscles.
Therapeutic Basil oil may also sharpen your sense of smell when inhaled and is a wonderful addition to favorite recipes that call for this herb. Basil has an approximate ORAC of 540,024 (TE/L). TE/L is expressed as micromole Trolox equivalent per liter.
    How to use:
Apply to tip of nose, on temples and on location of stings and bites. For mental fatigue, inhale first, and then apply to crown of head, forehead, heart and navel. Pure organic Basil oil may be added to food or rice milk as a dietary supplement.
Dilution recommended for both topical and internal use. Dilute before using on sensitive areas such as the face, neck, genital area, etc. Keep out of reach of children. Avoid using on infants and very young children.

. Welcome to the Young Living family.
