Raindrop Technique and the Elderly

Raindrop Technique and the Elderly

Thursday, September 30th, 2010

Massage therapists, have you tried doing the Raindrop Technique on the elderly? Young Livings Raindrop Technique is a safe, non-invasive, and easy tool that can help the aged feel better. With a few simple oils– Valor®, oregano, thyme, basil, cypress, wintergreen, marjoram, Aroma Siez, peppermint, Ortho Ease and V-6 Enhanced Vegetable Oil Complex– the Raindrop Technique can help bring the body, mind, and spirit into balance.

Here are some specific uses of the oils in the Raindrop Technique that can benefit the elderly:

· Valor helps to balance the energy in the body

· Oregano works to strengthen the immune system.

· Thyme helps overcome physical weakness and strengthen the immune system.

· Basil is relaxing to the muscles.

· Wintergreen can ease body aches and support the body’s natural defense mechanisms.

· Marjoram relieves minor discomforts.

· Aroma Siez helps to soothe the nerves and muscles.

· Peppermint feels really good and helps the other oils be more effective.

· Ortho Ease helps relax all the muscles on the back and reduces stress.

I have personally seen the Raindrop Technique help the elderly with posture, give an increase in energy, and help with their immune systems. Many of the results have been astounding! I have seen older adults walk better and have less discomfort getting up and down. At bare minimum, they will feel an increase in energy. They will be so thankful for the Raindrop Technique when you get through!

As you work on older individuals, be sensitive to their thinning skin and how they respond to the oils. Some of the essential oils in the Raindrop Technique can be quite hot. Have V-6 available to quickly dilute oils if needed. Also, be aware of the pressure you put on their bodies. What your younger clients can bear is usually heavier than the elderly.

Peace be with you,

Kaye Lynne

Healthy Eating During the Holidays

Monday, November 16th, 2009

It is no secret that the average American gains a lot of weight around the holiday season—anywhere from seven to ten pounds between Thanksgiving and New Years Day, in fact. But even if you are not ready to give up all your holiday indulgences pass the egg nog, there is still plenty you can do to maintain a healthy eating routine during the coming season.

As you prepare for the upcoming holiday parties and special occasions, remember these tips and you will be in good shape come the New Year:

1.Do not skip meals—It may be tempting to skip lunch in anticipation of a turkey feast, but cutting back during the day often leads to eating excess later. If you eat regularly during the day and focus on healthy snacks, you will be much less tempted to splurge as the day goes on.

2.Control your portions—As with any good diet, moderation is the key to maintaining your health. You can go ahead and enjoy your favorite dessert, just treat yourself to a reasonable serving.

3.Eat slowly—There are no need to be in a rush! Concentrate on conversing with friends and family. Take small bites and chew completely. Then, once you are finished with your meal, leave the table to avoid further temptation.

4.Bring healthy alternatives—If you have a food assignment, replace high-calorie dishes with a healthier option. For example: In place of pumpkin or pecan pie, try Young Living’s Apple Wolfberry Pie see recipe below.

Do not forget that Young Living Therapeutic Grade essential oils are a great way to incorporate healthy habits into your holiday celebrations. Did you know that when you cook with essential oils, you get all the great taste of traditional herbs and spices without any unnecessary preservatives? And from November 14–20, you can get a special discount on some of our most popular cooking oils. Check the promotions section of www.youngliving.com for more information on the Holiday Cooking with Essential Oils promotion and remember to have a fun and healthy holiday season!

Apple Wolfberry Pie Filling

¾ c. Blue Agave

1 drop nutmeg essential oil

2 drops ocotea essential oil or cinnamon bark essential oil

4 c. organic apples, peeled and sliced Granny Smith is preffered

1 Tbsp. rice flour

½ c. dried wolfberries

Mix all ingredients except rice flour in a large skillet. Simmer until apples are soft and crisp. Add rice flour and mix until blended. Place in an unbaked pie shell and apply an egg wash around the edge of the shell. Add the pie top and pinch the edges together. Make at least four two-inch slits on top of the pie to release stem. Place on a baking sheet and bake at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for ten minutes. Reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake an additional fifteen minutes, or until crust is lightly browned. Makes pie filling for one pie.

How to Use Essential Oils

How to Use Essential Oils

There are three basic ways to use essential oils: inhalation, topical application, and internal consumption.

Inhalation

The inhalation of essential oils heightens the senses and can trigger numerous desired responses in the body. Below are several techniques used to inhale essential oils:

1: Direct inhalation-simply smell them.

2: Diffuse the oils using a Young Living diffuser which disperses the oil in a micro-fine vapor into the air. The Young Living diffuser will not heat the oils, thus ensuring full benefits, as extreme heat can damage important constituents in the oil.
3: Fill a humidifier with water. Put a tissue or small cloth, sprinkled with a few drops of oil, in front of the escaping steam. ( Do not put oil in your humidifier. It will float on top of the water instead of rising with the water vapor and may cause damage to your humidifier.)

4: Carefully pour hot water into a bowl and add a few drops of oil. Cover your head and bowl in a tent-like fashion with a towel. Breathe deeply and slowly.

Topical Application

Apply essential oils directly onto the skin where indicated. Dilute with V-6 Enhanced Vegetable Oil Complex or a pure vegetable oil (e.g., olive or almond ) before applying if dilution is indicated in the Application Chart. Dilution may protect against possible skin sensitivities. Key points of application on the body are:

To apply topically on any of these areas, follow these simple steps:

1. Carefully tip the oil bottle and drop 2-3 drops in the palm of the hand or directly on the desired application area.

2. If dropping oil in your hand, rub palms together in a circular motion and then massage oil onto the desired point of application. If applying directly to the desired area, use your hand to massage the oil in a circular motion into the skin. Repeat if desired.

Attention: Essential oils are very potent, and some may be irritating to the skin. If irritation occurs, immediately apply V-6 Enhanced Vegetable Oil Complex or pure vegetable oil to the area to dilute. Please read label directions for each individual oil before using.

You can also create your own massage oil blends by mixing your favorite essential oils with V-6 Enhanced Vegetable Oil Complex or by using Young Living’s pre-mixed massage oil blends (e.g., Relaxation, Ortho Ease) to relax, uplift, soothe, and relieve.

Where to Topically Apply Essential Oils

•Crown of head

•Temples

•Behind ears

•Neck

•Upper back

•Abdomen

•Over vital organs

•Soles and top of feet

•Ankles

Suggested internal consumption methods:

1: Put several drops of oil into an empty capsule and swallow with water.

2: Add 1-2 drops to a glass of water or rice milk.

3: Put 1-2 drops onto a piece of bread or add to your meals when cooking.

4: Add 1-2 drops onto a teaspoon of Blue Agave and swallow.

5: Drop directly onto the tongue and swallow. Exercise extreme caution when using this method. Many oils are very strong and should be tested by pouring a single drop onto a spoon and tasting a small portion to determine the amount of oil to be used.

Young Living essential oils are pure, which makes them powerful and effective. For the responsible use of essential oils, read the complete label on each bottle and follow the safety guidelines and tips founding the Essential Oils User’s Guide available from your Young Living Independent Distributor.

Why I Like the New TheraPro Premium Essential Oil Diffuser

:Why I Like the New TheraPro Premium Essential Oil Diffuser

Friday, June 25th, 2010

Young Living recently unveiled two new diffusers—TheraPro Premium Diffuser and Aria Ultrasonic Diffuser. One of these two diffusers will fit your style of diffusing Young Living essential oils. In this post, I really like the TheraPro diffuser.

TheraPro Premium Diffuser

If you are after serious therapeutic diffusion, TheraPro is the best choice.

The engineer who partnered with Young Living created this all-in-one model, making sure the oil droplets coming out of the atomizer are the smallest ever—between one and three microns. Small micron size means quick respiratory absorption for quick therapeutic action. To test it out, simply slip in a 15 ml bottle of any eucalyptus Young Living essential oil in and experience the difference.

The atomizing diffuser in the TheraPro is a real work horse. I turned on four TheraPros at maximum capacity in late December 2009, hoping to burn out the motors after a few weeks of continuous work. Guess what? Those four diffusers are still going after more than six months, with no sign of slowing down. I am completely impressed with its solid construction.

The TheraPro is revolutionary because there is no mess and no wasted oil. Your 15 ml bottle of oil simply screws right into the atomizer; the atomizer sucks up the oil, disperses the vapor into the air, and returns the unused oil right back to the bottle. Amazing!

On the back, the TheraPro has an interface that gives you complete control of the amount of oil diffused and for how long. If you want more oil, just turn up the air volume. Do not want it on continuously? Simply use the duration controls.

Young Livings TheraPro is the best diffuser to buy if you want extras. It comes with a free 15 ml bottle of Thieves essential oil blend. There are also two atomizers included in the TheraPro box. Oh, yeah, if you want to get more atomizers, just give Young Living Customer Care a call and, they will hook you up with an pack of three accessory atomizers.

For a quick demonstration, check out the demo video for this diffuser.

Believe in the Possibilities of a New Year

January 13th, 2011 Since 1999 I have been using Young Living essential oils with my students, private bodywork clients, friends, family, and of course for myself. In all of my experience I can’t think of an essential oil blend that’s had a more profound impact on me than Believe™. It’s the perfect balance of Idaho balsam fir essential oil (Abies grandis), rosewood essential oil (Aniba rosaeodora), and frankincense essential oil (Boswellia carteri). Gary Young must have been truly inspired when he created this blend, which I refer to as “sunshine in a bottle.”

I have found success using this blend for communication or throat chakra issues. The throat chakra is the energy center for expressing our emotions, speaking truth, and the ability to grieve. I personally use Believe neat (undiluted) on the back of the neck and throat area before I make important phone calls or have business meetings. Most recently I have needed to make specific requests and set boundaries with people and I have found that Believe helps me be concise and clear while still maintaining kindness and compassion in my communications with others.

In my book, Aroma Yoga®: A Guide for Using Essential Oils in Your Yoga Practice, I recommend Believe as a throat chakra oil. When we have a strong belief in ourselves and are in touch with our purpose, it’s easier to be clearer in our communications with others. In my experience using Believe, I feel that this essential oil blend gives me an extra boost of confidence, while also helping ground and strengthen me energetically.

Try using Believe in the morning before going to work or holding an important meeting. I recommend putting a drop on your throat and a little on the outer ridges of your ears as well. As I said before, Believe is an excellent oil for improving our communication skills. Excellent communication includes our ability to listen, not only to others, but also to our inner wisdom.

Just as I began writing this blog, I received a call from a woman who attended one of my Aroma Yoga classes in Florida. She fell in love with Believe, purchased her own bottle, and ran out in just one month. She told me that without Believe she felt like something important for well-being was missing in her life.

you haven’t experienced Believe yet, I hope you will take the opportunity to try it for yourself soon—there is definitely something incredible about it.
Here’s to the belief that we can all have peace, love, abundance, and excellent health in 2011!

Happy New Year!

Tracy Griffiths

Thieves Products On the Go

One of the many essential Oils

Hello there! I am Christina Moore. Some of you may know me as the Let Make a Deal lady from convention 2006. I started working at Young Living in 2004 in Distributor Network Services. Currently, I am Product Manager over the Thieves product line. I feel lucky to be over this line of products because they represent something I can truly get behind and support. Each sink in my apartment has a Thieves Foaming Hand Soap with at least 20 in storage and the first thing I do when I go to a hotel room is completely spray down the bed, pillows, and blankets with Thieves Spray. It is my goal to continue to bring you quality Thieves products.

Now, take a minute and think about all the places you visit in a day or in a weeks time. It is probably quite a few. Now think about all the germs, dirt, and bacteria you are likely to come into contact with at all those places. I know…GROSS!

We all have hectic and busy schedules that take us many different places. If you are like me, you go to the bank, grocery store, dentist office, auto repair shop, school, and let not forget public restrooms. While most of these places are covered in things we rather not imagine, the good news is we do not have to take souvenirs home with us.
Thieves® Spray and Thieves Waterless Hand Purifier are two on-the-go products that make it easier to get clean in a world full of grime.

Take Thieves Spray with you and use it on desks, door knobs, sales counters, credit card machines, drink machines, and shopping carts. I can not think of a better place to use these products than in public restrooms! You can also carry Thieves Waterless Hand Purifier in your purse, brief case, or backpack to make cleaning your hands simple and easy after contact with dirty surfaces. You can also keep a couple of bottles at your desk or in your car.

If you Have been a member for a while, you likely know the story behind Young Livings Thieves essential oil blend. But did you know that Thieves essential oil blend has been a part of Young Livings essential oil line since 1994? And since its launch we have created 13 different companion products, including Thieves Spray and Thieves Waterless Hand Purifier, which offer the benefits found in the oil blend.

Older Entries Protect Your Mouth With Thieves

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

Most of us are concerned with having white teeth, but have you thought about how close you are to having gingivitis or periodontal disease? Dark and moist, your mouth is a prime location for germs and bacteria to grow out of control. Without proper daily care, your mouth, gums, and teeth are headed straight for bacteria heaven.

Doing the time to have proper oral care can prevent many oral health concerns as well as other health risks. It can prevent cavities, tartar, gingivitis an infection of the gums caused by plaque, and more serious gum diseases such as periodontitis.

To get started, you need a good, reliable tooth brush. Many dentists encourage brushers to use a soft-bristled brush for removing plaque and other debris from the teeth. It is also suggested to use a small-headed brush because it can more easily reach all areas of the mouth.

Next, you need top-of-the-line toothpaste—and Young Living has exactly that! In fact, we offer three different types of toothpastes. Our most gentle toothpaste, Thieves® Dentarome, is generally recommended for children. It has all the benefits of Thieves without being overpowering. For adults, Thieves Dentarome Plus Toothpaste is a great option. It Is a stronger version of the original Dentarome toothpaste because it contains a larger concentration of thymol and eugenol. And for those interested in having a clean mouth with white teeth, Thieves Dentarome Ultra is a perfect choice! It contains the whitening agent papain, an anti-stain enzyme derived from papayas.

Adding any one of our Thieves toothpastes to your daily oral care will help your mouth

About Essential Oils

Plants contain complex and powerful substances known as essential oils. These are aromatic liquids derived from shrubs, flowers, trees, roots, bushes, and seeds. These distinctive components defend plants from insects, harsh environmental conditions, and disease. They are also vital for a plant to grow, live, evolve, and adapt to its surroundings. Referred to as the essence of the plant, pure essential oils not only protect the plant but also determine its aroma.

Essential oils have been used throughout time dating back to 4500 BC. From perfumes and aromatherapy to cooking and medicinal purposes, essential oils have been used in everyday life for centuries. In modern days, research shows that pure essential oils can provide similar benefits to humans and animals that they give to plants.

Put your Best Skin Forward this Summer!

Put your Best Skin Forward this Summer!

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009

Summer is upon us and we all want our skin to look great, whether out in the sun having fun or relaxing at a favorite hang-out. Here are some helpful skincare tips to help you make the most of your activities this summer:

1. Exfoliate to Radiate

It is so very important to exfoliate your skin. Your body sheds skin cells at an amazing rate every minute of every day. If you do not get orid of them, they just remain in place, giving your skin a dull, dry appearance. And no matter how much lotion you use, you are never going to have radiant skin if you do not exfoliate. So grab a body scrub and hit the shower! Gently rub your exfoliator Young Livings Satin Mint in circular movements on your entire body from the shoulders down you will want a facial exfoliator for your face and neck and rinse clean. Continue to do this 2-3 times a week for year-round beautiful skin.

2. Shave!

Now that the lazy days of winter are behind us it is time to pick out a good razor that will not cause razor burn. Do not use your husbands—he will not like it and it will not treat your legs well either. This also goes for shaving cream; choosing a shaving lotion is much better for your skin and will hydrate and help prevent nicks and cuts. As an alternative you can use a conditioner like Young Livings Lavender Volume Conditioner for a moisturizing shave cream.

3. Moisturize with a Summer Scent

Find a summeresque lotion that you will actually want to put on. This also means you need to exchange those thick winter body butters for lighter summery lotions. You do not have time to wait for your lotion to sink in, so look for something thats fast absorbing. I personally love a coconut and mango or other tropical scents. Nothing says summer more than a light refreshing citrus lotion! Just add a few drops of your favorite citrus essential oil to a lotion base to create an unbeatable scent. Make sure you apply right after you dry off from your shower, so you can seal in the moisture your body just soaked in.

4. Get a Safe Glow

When it comes to adding a little summer tint to your skin, there are so many better choices than using the tanning bed. Choosing a sunless tanner will give your skin a beautiful start to summer. Even if you ore not a fan of sunless tanners all over your body, you can happily use them on your face. Or just add a bit of sunless tanner to your facial moisturizer to get a healthy glow that will make it look as though you just spent the weekend on the beach. Most facial tanners build color gradually, but by alternating and blending with your regular moisturizer you will never get too dark or look fake and blotchy.

5. Take Care of those Feet

It is time to go get a pedicure try a beauty school if cost is a factor, or give yourself one at home. You need to exfoliate the dead dry skin off those feet to get them sandal ready. Nothing is worse than seeing dull dry feet inside cute sandals. But it does not have to be a big ordeal! Keep a foot scrub like Young Livings Satin Mint and a pedicure file in your shower and scrub your feet a few times a week. You will notice a big difference in the softness of your feet. Try treating your toes to a fun summer polish. Toes can be painted much bolder than any color you would put on your fingernails and picking a shade that screams summer will help you and your feet feel the season.

Three Effective Steps for the Next Emotional Breakthrough

December 14th, 2010 We all face difficulties in our lives as we move through each day with hazards, barriers, and other defeating behaviors. The hips are too big.I am not going to fit into those pants. And the list goes on and on. Young Living essential oils used with self-talk and affirmation can help us stay calm and break through emotional barriers.

Here are three easy steps that can help you break through emotional barriers:

1. RELAX

A mistake that people get wrapped up in is negative thinking. You might be meaning well by criticizing yourself with defeating behavior, but this allows the negative emotions to dig deeper in the body. Apply Release™ to the liver area to break down the walls of negative thinking.

2. CHANGE YOUR THOUGHTS

Place Forgiveness over the heart after negative thinking starts to change in your mind. Change your thoughts by using statements with powerful words. Staying focused on these goals can keep you away from distractions. This helps acknowledge current hazards and avoid feelings of panic.

3. BELIEVE

Put Present Time on the front of the neck. This oil is very effective to enhance positive self-talk. When you start to struggle again, breathe it in, stay calm, cool, and collected. Keep repeating to yourself a positive phrase as you apply the oil of Present Time. Stay with this until you feel a shift in your body. Use these three steps to change the negative self-talk.

Peace be with you,

Kaye Lynne

Omega Blue: Fatty Acids the Way Nature Intended

December 13th, 2010 If you taken a trip to the grocery store lately, you may have noticed that your bread, milk, even your peanut butter is touting a new phrase: Now with added omega-3! Omega-3 fats, most typically found in fish oils, are more popular now than ever thanks to recent findings about their support of heart, circulatory, skin, respiratory, eye, and brain health.

The American Heart Association and the FDA have both given omega-3 fatty acids their endorsement. In fact, the American Heart Association has been recommending fish oil supplementation to heart patients since as early as 2002.

Though the benefits of omega-3 fish oils are wide-reaching, consumers should note that not all omega-3 supplements are created equal. When choosing a fish oil supplement, you must consider the freshness of the fish oil as one of the most important factors. In fact, fish oil can be so fragile that some cultures prefer to buy live fish to avoid dangerous rancidity. This rancidity can invite millions of harmful free radicals into your system. To avoid this potentially harmful side effect, a fish oil supplement is best when it is strengthened with natural antioxidants to preserve and protect freshness. In addition, consumers should stay away from supplements with concentrated fish oils that have been overly processed.

Enter Young Livings best-selling Omega Blue with pure fish oil and Omega Enhance. Omega Blue provides clinically proven omega-3 fatty acids that are harvested from fish raised in environments free of pollutants, dioxins, PCBs, pesticides, and heavy metals. Young Living’s Omega Enhance preservation system—a blend of pure blue chamomile, lemongrass, clove, and myrrh essential oils—increases the shelf life by up to ten times, ensuring freshness not only throughout preparation but also during metabolism in the body. Precision Delivery softgels then release in the intestines for three times the absorption with no fishy aftertaste.

So the next time you see a cereal box or concentrated supplement bottle asserting its omega-3 health properties, you’ll be able to sit back and relax, knowing that you’re already getting the pure, clean essential fatty acids your body needs.
