Product Summary
Lavender essential oil is known as the most popular
and versatile essential oil. It is steam distilled
from Lavandula angustifolia, a perennial, busy
shrub with a flowery top. The many properties of
lavender essential oil contribute to a vast range
of usage. It is highly regarded as an antiseptic,
anti-inflammatory, for skin care, or as a lovely
fragrance.
Product Story
Traditionally used to treat burns, lavender is one
of history’s most celebrated and versatile essential
oils. In ancient Greece, Pedanius Dioscorides,
a physician, pharmacologist, and botanist, extolled
the medicinal qualities of lavender. Greeks
also used lavender as a perfume. The Romans
used lavender in their baths for washing, for its
healing and antiseptic qualities, and to deter
insects. The Egyptians used lavender as an ingredient
in incense and perfume. Queen Elizabeth
I used lavender as a tea to treat her frequent
migraines.
Following a laboratory explosion that severely
burned his arm, a French scientist named Rene
Gattefosse was the first modern scientist to
document lavender’s ability to promote tissue
regeneration.
Today, we use lavender as a tea, to dress wounds,
to induce sleep, ease depression, and reduce
stress. Lavender oil is one of the safest essential
oils and can be used in full strength on the skin.
The benefits of lavender essential oil are limitless.
As we continue to study lavender, additional usage

Connecting to the Earth Helps Create Abundance, part 2
May 23, 2011
Before going into standing balancing poses, place a few drops of Abundance™ essential oil blend on the bottoms of your feet, your sacrum (the flat bone of your lower back), and on the back of your neck. Take some time to fully experience its aroma.
As you are inhaling this oil, evoke the feelings of being strongly rooted to the earth, being safe and secure. The earth element moves slowly. I suggest deliberately slowing down and deepening your breath as you move into your balancing poses such as mountain pose or tree pose.
I also put a few drops of Abundance in my wallet, on my appointment book, our business’s credit card machine, and telephone. We’ve even mixed it in cans of paint before painting our walls in our home and in our studio. Whenever we diffuse Abundance oil, we have a lot more activity in our business.
Like it or not, this is a “law of attraction” universe, and as we become more aware of how our thoughts and emotions are creating our reality, rest assured that using Young Living’s essential oils combined with your intention is a powerful tool for creating what you desire. Having the feeling of abundance and wealth will assist you to physically create and manifest more abundance and wealth.
I think that if there were only one oil I had to choose to share with others, it would be Abundance. As the Bible passage goes: “What we sow, we shall reap.”
If you have Abundance, I am sure you have your own stories about using it for creating wealth and healthier finances. I have heard some really amazing stories and I have a few of my own. Feel free to use the comments feature on this post to share your stories.
Here’s to your abundance for all good things!

Connecting to the Earth Helps Create Abundance, part 1
May 19, 2011
As a bodywork therapy expert, I think it’s very important to take into account the connection between the body and mind, especially when you want to make changes in your life. Notice how your body feels as you read this article, paying attention to your hips and lower back.
I’d like to give you a little background information so you can understand how your body, mind, and emotions all connect to the chakras. Then I’ll offer a few Aroma Yoga® tips to help you shift into the vibration of prosperity with Young Living’s Abundance™ essential oil blend.
In yoga and many other energy-based healing arts modalities, we work with the chakras, a Sanskrit word that translated means “wheel” or “turning.” A chakra, or wheel of energy, is a center of activity that generates, assimilates, and expresses life-force energy, or prana.
The chakra system is a map of the subtle or energetic body. It is a diagram of where and how the body, mind, and emotions intersect. It also represents the evolution of the human psyche and our emotional and spiritual development.
Each chakra also has a designated sense, i.e., sense of sight, hearing, taste, touch, and smell. Most yogis and healing arts practitioners in the West primarily address the seven major chakras that are located along the central channel of the body, from the base of the spine to the top of the head.
The principles of Polarity Therapy, which stems from ayurvedic medicine, say that each chakra has a corresponding element: earth, water, fire, air, and ether. For this article, I will be discussing the first chakra, also known as the root chakra, which corresponds to the earth element.
The first chakra is associated with everything that has to do with our basic needs being met in order to survive, i.e., food, water, clothing, and shelter. The sense of smell corresponds to this chakra. Think about it: How do animals survive in the wild? They depend on their keen sense of smell to find their prey and avoid their predators. Of all of our senses, our sense of smell is the most developed when we are born, probably in order to identify our mother, our primary source of survival when we are infants.
In our culture, first chakra issues are about money, income, and feelings of security. The positive aspect of the first chakra is feeling safe and having trust; the negative aspect is feeling fear, having doubt, and not trusting.
Using Young Living’s Abundance essential oil blend can help us with first chakra issues. When I teach my Aroma Yoga classes, I share Abundance with students to create a sense of trust and security in the room. Its sweet, warming, and earthy blend is made up of myrrh, cinnamon bark, frankincense, patchouli, orange, clove, ginger, and spruce. It’s perfect for supporting the root chakra. Young Living’s founder, D. Gary Young, and his ability to create oil blends that are perfect for emotional support and balance astound me.
Here’s to your abundance for all good things!

Guidelines for Cooking with Young Living Essential Oils
Essential oils are different from common vegetable oils such as olive, flax, sesame, or canola oils. While both have benefits, cooking with essential oils can be a healthy alternative in flavoring foods and beverages.
The following Young Living essential oils are frequently used in recipes: lemon, orange, nutmeg, black pepper, peppermint, ginger, sage, tangerine, lemongrass, grapefruit, fennel, spearmint, cinnamon bark, oregano, clove, and basil, among others. See the GRAS List (pdf) or the GRAS list below (Generally Regarded As Safe) to learn which Young Living essential oils can be ingested. Be sure to see the "How to Use" page for more information.
Many people believe that using essential oils in cooking is a relatively new idea; in fact there are thousands of food products that use essential oils for aroma and flavor such as chewing gum, chocolates, candies, and many more.
The difference between those oils for flavoring food and Young Living's essential oils is that Young Living essential oils are superior in quality, which simply means you will be getting the healthful benefits of the plant when you use them, and not just the 'flavor.'
While certain essential oils can be harmful if taken in high dosages, moderate use as flavoring (a few drops per person) is not only safe but delicious!
Key differences between essential oils and vegetable oils:
- Vegetable oils contain glycerol, which leaves a greasy residue when applied to the skin and creates a slippery surface (i.e. in the pan); essentials oils do not create a slippery surface (unless mixed with vegetable oil)
- Vegetable oils are 100% fat; essential oils contain no fat.
- Vegetable oils are primarily pressed from seeds and nuts, like avocados, olives or the bran of grains
- Pure essential oils are steam distilled from plants (with the exception of citrus oils which are cold-pressed)

Clean Up Mold Naturally with Essential Oils
High quality essential oils, such as Young Living's, can play an important role in helping to prevent toxic black mold from occurring. It is so easy to prevent mold by using Young Living oils and to prevent mold from coming back.
These three charts show the effects of Thieves essential oil diffused 24, 48 and 72 hours:
10 Steps to Prevent and Eliminate Toxic Mold
If you do not have mold - in a Nebulizer Diffuser, diffuse the Thieves or Purification blend of essential oils for 15 minutes every 3 hours, or you may instead diffuse for 8 hours, non-stop, once a week. Tip: you can buy a light timer to plug your differ into and set the timer. If you have mold -- Eliminate it and keep it from coming back
- Sampling – you may want to contact a professional to have sampling done to determine the type of mold, and whether it is toxic or not. Toxic mold must be dealt with differently than non-toxic mold. If you cannot afford to have professional sampling done you can still try the 10 steps. Tip: the DIY mold sampling test kits are not accurate, so it is best to avoid them. Tip: it is best to discard any items that you do not need or want any longer - and if you do have mold do not sell or donate any items that may be contaminated with mold spores as this will give someone else the problem.
- Diffuse - after your samples have been collected, diffuse the Thieves essential oil blend for 24-72 hours, nonstop, in the space. One Cold-air Nebulizer diffuser works well in spaces up to 1000 sq. ft. in size. If possible, and for best results, leave the room closed and sealed during this intensive diffusing. This will allow maximum penetration and absorption of the essential oil. It is best to 'not' be living in the space(s) that are being diffused as the essential oils, though they are nontoxic, will be too intense to stay around for longer than a few minutes after the essential oil mist is in the air. Do not leave children, pets, or fish in the space(s) while the 24 hour non-stop diffusing is taking place.
- Repair all leaks - repair all leaks and eliminate all sources of moisture. This is a must!
- Clean thoroughly - if sampling identifies NO toxic mold, then after diffusing has been completed, clean visible mold and stains with the Thieves Household Cleaner, undiluted. Use protective equipment and take precautions to avoid contact with and breathing mold spores while cleaning.
- If sampling identifies Toxic Mold - contact a professional mold remediation service to have infested materials removed and properly disposed. Do not sell or donate any items that may be contaminated with mold spores, as this will give someone else the problem.
- Resample - have your professional resample to be sure all sources of mold have been identified and remediated.
- Repeat - if necessary, repeat steps 1 through 6, above.
- Remove - mold infested materials, seal in plastic and properly dispose. If you do NOT have toxic mold, you may dispose sealed materials in your garbage.
- Repair, Replace, Refinish all affected areas.
- Diffuse Regularly for prevention and protection. See above, for details.
How much should I order to get started?
- 1 - 15 ml bottle Thieves Essential Oil blend
- 1 Thieves Household Cleaner
- 1 Cold Air Essential Oil Diffuser
Note: Add one 15 ml bottle of Thieves Essential Oil for every additional 1,000 sq.ft.

Business Building
Inspired by Gary's speech in London, Susie began building her own Young Living network and achieved Silver rank in six months—meaning that she had enabled at least two members of her downline (distributors she enrolled) to reach the rank of Executive while meeting personal and group sales volume goals.Susie says, “I advise any new Young Living distributor to become a product of the product.” Susie uses all Young Living Essential Oils product lines and is especially fond of the Raindrop Technique®, Young Living's revolutionary collection that brings physical, mental, and emotional balance to the body. She is currently working to one day achieve Crown Diamond status, Young Living's highest possible distributor rank. In the meantime, Susie focuses on trade shows, exhibitions, and spreading the word about the benefits of Young Living Essential Oils.
Susie says, “Young Living has consistently demonstrated a cutting-edge wellness technology with highly potent cleanse, detox, and balance formulations that really work, plus the excellent training, backup, and support from the Young Living UK team.”
Her praise is endless as she mentors those around her. The best advice Susie offers to her downline is, “Be in your passion about Young Living and come from heart and high integrity.”

Companion Animal “Heart Talk” with Young Living Essential Oils (Part 2) May 2, 2011 17Share The ABCs of Heart Talk Heart Talk is also about keeping pollutants low; exposure to too many environmental poisons is known to not only affect our pets’ health, but their behavior as well. Here is a simple approach that can cement the bond of trust and love between you and your companion. A. Start the introduction of essential oils, especially for smaller animals, by first using Thieves® Household Cleaner to clean your home. This is an easy way to assist all immune systems. Thieves cleaner is safe to use in homes, aviaries, barns, and all other places where our best friends live. B. Use Young Living’s TheraPro Diffuser for environmental modifications. A simple method of establishing a healthy environment is to set up the diffuser with 5 minutes on at low volume and 20 minutes off. Set this way, a bottle of essential oil can last for several weeks. Keep these three essential oil blends on hand for diffusing: Thieves is useful for support in stressful situations, such as adding a new pet, changing homes, or family changes. Purification can healthily deodorize a space and also act as an insect repellent. Peace & Calming will help address extreme behaviors, from shy to aggressive. This blend supports and balances the autonomic nervous system, which is perfect for stressful situations. C. Create a floral spray as a safe, effective insect repellant for instant, portable application. Take a 1-ounce cobalt-blue glass spray bottle and add: 3 drops Purification essential oil blend 2 drops peppermint essential oil 2 drops lavender essential oil Fill the bottle to the top with distilled water. (Increase measurements incrementally for larger bottles.) Spray mixture lightly on your pet’s feet, back, tail, or throat. For the tips of the ears, spray mixture on your fingers then rub on your pet’s ears. Don’t forget to spray yourself as well! This floral spray is totally safe—even when your pet decides to lick it off! Wishing worlds of success to you and your companion, Nancy Weber

Companion Animal “Heart Talk” with Young Living Essential Oils (Part 1)
What blessings our beloved companion animals bring to our lives! Yet as we rejoice in the bond between us, we also recognize a deep responsibility for their welfare. One of the simplest, most powerful methods of enjoying our relationships with our pets is to keep them healthy, happy, and calm. Not every animal will be quietly calm; some will be bounding across the rooms. However, if your pet’s nervous system is balanced, he or she will be free of inner conflict and able to enjoy your shared bond.
Heart Talk is the unspoken sharing of love with our best friends in an array of furs, feathers, scales, and more; it’s a way of achieving even greater bonds with those we have rescued, adopted, or bought. Young Living’s Peace & Calming® essential oil blend can helps us achieve this wonderful sharing of emotions and assist our dogs, cats, horses, and more to feel at peace.
Keep in mind two important factors when using essential oils with animals:
1. Humans have about 5 million olfactory epithelial cells; cats have nearly 100 million and dogs can have up to 220 million of these smell sensors!
2. Because of their incredible sense of smell, the effect of essential oils on our companions is more powerful than it is on us. We only need to run a Young Living TheraPro™ Diffuser for 5 minutes on low and off for 20 minutes to assist our pets. For topical applications, dilute the oil according to species, weight, and age. For example, a horse does not need a diluted application, but a cat would need a 75 percent dilution, or more, depending on age and weight.
For an animal’s first introduction to essential oils, simply take one drop of Peace & Calming in your hands, rub them together, and then pet your friend as you normally would (keeping away from eyes and inner ears). This is the first step to helping your companion move toward a very healthy and peaceful feeling. You will notice how peaceful you feel, too!
Consider using Young Living essential oils in your car when traveling with your pet. Keep a Travel Fan Diffuser or an unbleached coffee filter in the vent for just these purposes. Three or four drops of Peace & Calming will be all you need. This is a perfect approach for going to the veterinarian’s office!
Watch for Part 2 of this blog post later in the month where we will focus on the ABCs of Heart Talk!
Wishing worlds of success to you and your companion,
