Connecting to the Earth Helps Create Abundance, part 1

May 19, 2011

Do you feel worried about your finances? Are you concerned with how you are going to pay your bills? Are you in debt? You can shift your state of being so that you can attract more wealth, create abundance, and reduce these types of stress.
As a bodywork therapy expert, I think it’s very important to take into account the connection between the body and mind, especially when you want to make changes in your life. Notice how your body feels as you read this article, paying attention to your hips and lower back.
I’d like to give you a little background information so you can understand how your body, mind, and emotions all connect to the chakras. Then I’ll offer a few Aroma Yoga® tips to help you shift into the vibration of prosperity with Young Living’s Abundance™ essential oil blend.
In yoga and many other energy-based healing arts modalities, we work with the chakras, a Sanskrit word that translated means “wheel” or “turning.” A chakra, or wheel of energy, is a center of activity that generates, assimilates, and expresses life-force energy, or prana.

The chakra system is a map of the subtle or energetic body. It is a diagram of where and how the body, mind, and emotions intersect. It also represents the evolution of the human psyche and our emotional and spiritual development.

Each chakra also has a designated sense, i.e., sense of sight, hearing, taste, touch, and smell. Most yogis and healing arts practitioners in the West primarily address the seven major chakras that are located along the central channel of the body, from the base of the spine to the top of the head.
The principles of Polarity Therapy, which stems from ayurvedic medicine, say that each chakra has a corresponding element: earth, water, fire, air, and ether. For this article, I will be discussing the first chakra, also known as the root chakra, which corresponds to the earth element.

The first chakra is associated with everything that has to do with our basic needs being met in order to survive, i.e., food, water, clothing, and shelter. The sense of smell corresponds to this chakra. Think about it: How do animals survive in the wild? They depend on their keen sense of smell to find their prey and avoid their predators. Of all of our senses, our sense of smell is the most developed when we are born, probably in order to identify our mother, our primary source of survival when we are infants.
In our culture, first chakra issues are about money, income, and feelings of security. The positive aspect of the first chakra is feeling safe and having trust; the negative aspect is feeling fear, having doubt, and not trusting.
Using Young Living’s Abundance essential oil blend can help us with first chakra issues. When I teach my Aroma Yoga classes, I share Abundance with students to create a sense of trust and security in the room. Its sweet, warming, and earthy blend is made up of myrrh, cinnamon bark, frankincense, patchouli, orange, clove, ginger, and spruce. It’s perfect for supporting the root chakra. Young Living’s founder, D. Gary Young, and his ability to create oil blends that are perfect for emotional support and balance astound me.
Here’s to your abundance for all good things!

Health and wellness from the Bible.

Part Two – The Journey to Sacred Frankincense.

My head was spinning, trying to figure out what this was all about and what I was going to do, since it appeared that my first opportunity to be in Egypt looked like it was headed for disaster. I so wanted to know why Christ, as a child, fled to Egypt, since I am sure there were other places he could have gone. What was the frankincense story all about? I had hoped to discover why frankincense was found in Tutankhamuns tomb when it was opened by Howard Carter in 1922.

Why was Christ the only child recorded in historical writings to receive frankincense, myrrh, and gold at his birth? Yet, even that was shrouded with mystery as the definition in the Sabaic Dictionary, published by the University of Sana a in 1982, states: Gold, a type of incense. That was a clue to something new that really piqued my interest.

Historically, at that time, incense was far more prized than gold. If frankincense and myrrh were given as precious gifts, why would gold, a much lesser commodity, be given as well? How did frankincense and myrrh equate to gold? As I started putting together what I had learned with what had been written, it just did not make sense.

Through my research and in asking questions in that part of the world, I learned that balsam oil was anciently called liquid gold. That seemed to be common knowledge in the Arabian world. So then I had to ask myself, Did the translator leave out the word liquid because it did not seem important, or was it simply not understood? I was fascinated with it all and was driven to find the truth.
