The Search for the healing power of Essential Oils!

The Search for the healing power of Essential Oils!

Part One – The Journey to Sacred Frankincense

My journey began 18 years ago when I traveled to Egypt in search of the answers to many questions about the mysteries of essential oils hidden in the ancient ruins and hieroglyphics of Egyptian history. I was excited to study essential oil chemistry with Dr. Radwan Farag, PhD, dean of the Biochemistry Department at Cairo University, who at that time was the most published authority on essential oils in the world.

Tourism had already been greatly restricted in Egypt when I heard the announcement in the London airport requesting that all passengers traveling to Egypt report to the Customer Service Counter of Egypt Air immediately. All nonresidents were being advised not to travel there because there was tremendous tension and upheaval in the country, and it was extremely dangerous. Tickets were being changed and refunded for all foreigners except one. I knew I had to go, and I just could not let this stand in my way of what I felt was to be a great adventure into the discovery of the unknown.

As I boarded the Egypt Air flight to Cairo, all eyes of the 38 Egyptian citizens were on me as I placed my camera bag in the overhead compartment. As the plane lifted off the ground, I had a strange feeling of anticipation, wondering what would happen to this lone American. When the jet landed and came to a stop, the stairs were rolled up to the door, but as I moved towards the exit, the head flight attendant asked me to let all the Egyptian citizens off first.

As the last passenger to leave the plane and walk down the stairs, I saw why I was detained. A military escort was waiting on the tarmac to go with me to pick up my luggage and take me through immigration, customs, and then into a black car waiting in the taxi lane. The military police drove me to a downtown hotel where I was checked in and told not leave the premises until my departure two weeks later.

How do I get the plantar wart out from under the skin? A home remedy to get rid of warts in the face, please? Does duct tape work to remove warts ? Tips to Get Rid of Plantar Warts

By: Corwin Brown

Plantar warts are noncancerous skin growths on the soles of your feet caused by the human papillomavirus HPV, which enters your body through tiny cuts and breaks in your skin. Plantar warts often develop beneath pressure points in your feet, such as the heels or balls of your feet.Surgery is an option if home treatment and treatment at your health professionals office has failed. Surgery for warts is usually quick and effective.

No single surgical method is more effective than another in curing warts. Generally, health professionals start with the surgical method that is least likely to cause scarring. Cryotherapy sounds like what they did to Ted Williams, and does involve freezing. In this case, doctors use liquid nitrogen to "freeze" your wart. They apply the liquid nitrogen directly onto the plantar wart using a spray-tip or cotton-tip applicator.

If you never experienced cryotherapy before, you might be struck by the sci-fi image of unearthly vapors rising from the nitrogen tank. For children, this method can be too painful and scary, and at any rate, it guarantees neither more nor less success than duct tape or acid treatments. If successful, however, you get rid of that plantar wart faster. It is possible to remove plantar warts.

Some success for removing painful plantar warts has been reported by the repeated and extended applications of salicylic acid. The acid, available in drug stores, works by softening the callus over the wart, exposing the virus. Apply the acid at night, and rub the whitened skin off in the morning. During the day, apply a donut-shaped pad over the wart for cushioning and pain relief.

Do not use salicylic acid if you have diabetes or peripheral vascular disease. Cantharidin Doctors and healers have used cantharidin — a substance extracted from the blister beetle — to treat warts for centuries. Today, this therapy is sometimes paired with salicylic acid. Your doctor paints this beetle juice onto your wart and covers it with clear tape. The application is painless, but it causes the skin under the wart to blister, lifting the wart off the skin. Your doctor can then clip away the dead part of the wart in about a week.

However, some doctors are hesitant to use cantharidin because it is not approved by the Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of warts. Another very low cost way to remove plantar warts is called hyperthermic treatment. Hyperthermic treatment of plantar is very simple and all you need is warm water and a small tube to soak your feet in. It involves soaking your feet in hot water to remove the warts for 90 minutes a day. This is a no-nonsense method on how to remove warts, especially plantar warts. Also, it can relieve the pressure caused by the infection.Removal of plantar warts using this method may depend on the size of the wart.
Usually, it takes about six weeks for the lesion to heal completely. Another disadvantage of the method, aside from the length it takes for the wound to heal, is the pain associated, even if anesthesia is applied, and the scar that forms around the skin area. Essential Oils and their anticancer properties:

Essential Oils and their anticancer properties:

E.O. and Anticancer Properties October 21, 2005
Good Morning,

Well I am back from Ecuador and what an awesome experience we all had. The country is as beautiful as far as an eye can see. High mountains were everywhere. The people are out plowing their fields by hand or with the ox pulling a plow behind. We sure do take our easy life for granted dont we? I saw many women down by a creek or a spring washing their clothes on a rock scrubbing them back and forth to get them clean and then hanging them out to dry on bushes or whatever they could hang them on.

Women and children out in the garden and field hoeing and weeding and even cutting grass to put in a large sack like material to fold and hauling it over their shoulders on the back, taking it to market to sell.

Most of the farms are on the mountain side and their homes up on the side of the mountain or on top. With stair cut out of the ground so they can climb to their homes. And we complain because the car has a flat tire. They are a happy group of people waving as our buses went by.

Not all people are farmers, there are a lot of town people with the busy life of zippy around in cars going here and there to work and shopping. New buildings going up all over. A new hospital is being built that is right by the Azuay University where Dr. Gary Young and Dr. Edward Rodas will be teaching students and doing research on the Essential Oils.

That is right Gary will be teaching classes in Azuay University to students toward getting their degree in alternative health with Essential oils. And hopefully in time there will be a home course for those of us that would like to have a degree behind our name, which we will be able to take, but it will require some college time in the Azuay University to complete the degree.

Gary talked more on what we learned at convention on research on the 74 essential oil in the studies of cancer. 69 single and 5 mixtures on Cervical, breast, skin, and prostate cancer cell lines with a Non-cancerous 3T3 mouse fibroblast cells. I would like to share part of this again especially for those that are new and have not heard about the research.

OBJECTIVE:

Oils showing 50 percent or more cancer cell inhibition and 25 percentor less inhibition of non-cancer cell growth will be recommended for further study as potential anticancer drugs.

RESULTS:

58 percent of the 74 oils showed general cancer inhibition of 50 percent or greater. 34 percentof the 74 oils showed cancer-specific inhibition. Seven of those were active against two or more cancer cell lines

Of particular interest: Oils showing synergistic effects, Oils with significant activity at the lowest concentration tested and Oils with multiple anti-cancer activity.

CONCLUSION:

Essential oils have potential as anticancer drugs.

Screening processes such as the one used in this study that are fast, inexpensive and useful provided good leads about which compounds should be further investigated.

Further research should be done on promising essential oils--this may lead to new cancer drugs. Many technologies available.

AREAS OF INTEREST:.

Stimulating apoptosis

DNA repair

Proflerative senescence

Immune protection and stimulation

Preventing metastasis

ALPHA-SANTALOL Vs SKIN CANCER:
1. Researchers at the South Dakota State University found that the main component of Sandalwood oil, the alpha-santalol, protected skin from cancer.

2. Application of alpha-santalol to skin exposed to cancer-causing chemicals dramatically delayed the onset of tumor growth in test subjects.

Soda Gets in the Way

By: Dr Izharul Hasan

Soda Gets in the Way.Soda is commonly served to kids, but this carbonated drink has no nutritional value and is high in sugar. One study found that more than 1 out of 3 preschoolers drank soda on the day before the survey. On average, the kids drank over 8 ounces of soda or sugar-sweetened fruit drink. On the other hand, they drank only 12 ounces of milk, which is less than the recommended 16 ounces a day.

Kids may be less likely to drink enough milk if soda and other sugar-sweetened beverages are available. Besides calcium, milk offers other important nutrients, including vitamin D, potassium, and protein.

It is also easy to drink too much soda, and kids tend to drink increasing amounts as they get older. In older kids and adolescents, drinking soda and other sugary beverages has been linked to excessive weight gain and other problems, including tooth decay.

Caffeine and Kids: a Bad Mix.

In addition to calories and sugar, soda often contains caffeine, which can have negative effects on kids. Most parents would not dream of giving a preschooler a cup of coffee, but might routinely serve cola and other drinks containing caffeine. For kids, the effects of caffeine are similar to those seen in adults.

Too much caffeine can cause:
jitteriness and nervousness
upset stomach
headaches
difficulty concentrating
difficulty sleeping

To avoid giving kids too much caffeine, read nutrition labels on food and drinks. In addition to colas and some other soft drinks, caffeine is found in chocolate, coffee ice cream, and iced tea drinks.

Although the United States has not yet developed guidelines for caffeine consumption in kids, Canadian guidelines recommend that preschoolers consume no more than 45 milligrams of caffeine a day. This is equivalent to the average amount of caffeine found in a 12-ounce 360-milliliter can of cola or four 1.5-ounce 45-gram milk chocolate bars.

Water is a caffeine-free, zero-calorie thirst quencher and milk has nutrients to help kids grow up strong. Limit the empty calorie drinks you serve, and teach your kids that water and milk are the best drinks for them.

It is a surprising fact that womens hair loss occurs more than you may realize. Another thing that is so surprising about this issue is that hair loss in women can often happen just as much as it does in men, yet there's so much more awareness about the condition in men. Why so much more attention given to hair loss in men? Why are there not commercials and programs dedicated to the hair loss of women? A woman's hair can begin to thin due to a number of different causes. This article will talk about some of the reasons why a woman might start losing her hair. There are certain medications that affect whether or not a woman gets to keep her hair. Chemotherapy is a procedure that very many women take, especially for breast cancer, and that will certainly induce hair loss. Chemical interaction between the female body and other medications will cause this to happen, as well. But it is not always a case of hair actually falling out. So what happens is that the cycle of hair growth is interrupted, and it stops growing. But the net effect is the appearance of hair loss. However she will still seem to be experiencing hair loss to those who don not know any better. Hair loss can appear to be happening with some women, but it is due to her hormones. Many possible reactions can occur when the hormones become out of balance. Energy levels can be affected as well as moods and weight. Sometimes a womans hair will stop growing, or it can just become thinner, and of course there can be actual hair loss. If you notice changes in any of these areas over time, then of course the best thing to do is see your family doctor. Of course tests can be performed on your chemistry, and then appropriate action can be taken.Another type of hair loss in women is called, telogen effluvium. This is also called temporary shedding. But the unusual aspect of this is that the shedding occurs at a very quick rate. This shedding occurs after especially traumatic events like surgery or traumas. Extreme distress of the emotions can also cause this. All is not lost because the hair loss in this situation is not permanent, and the hair will grow back. The peculiar part of this condition is that you'll never know if it will happen to you unless it happens. Womens hair loss does not get as much publicity as mens hair loss does. The amazing thing about it is that women and men have hair loss in the same amount. These are just a few of the reasons that a woman might suffer from hair loss or hair thinning. But these are some of the more well known causes.

The maintenance of skin is an endless task in the life for each woman. The resistance against the pores and blackhead, and whitening and moisturizing of the skin are the basic courses that women would do every day. However, nowadays, women not only use skin care products to protect their skin, but will also start from the diets. Following four foods can be said as the natural skin care products.

First, rice——clean, moisturize, and brighten the skin.Rice is rich in vitamins A, B, E, amino acid, hydrochloric acids and other nutrients. These water-soluble vitamins and mineral substances will remain in the water when the rice is washed. As a result, the water which has been used to wash the rice enjoys a reputation as a natural skin care product, with its superior effects of moisturizing and brightening the skin.

Fourth, yogurt——moisturize the skin, renew the hornyAs yogurt is made from natural milk which has been fermented, so it contains lactic acid component, which has the function of moisturizing the skin and renewing the horny. How Positive Thinking Helps When You Catch a Cold

How Positive Thinking Helps When You Catch a Cold

It will probably not surprise you when I say that my motivation in asking this question comes from the fact that I have caught a cold. I have managed to avoid all those bugs which circulate so easily for at least the last two years, so I don't suppose that I should grumble. What I will say is that the symptoms I am experiencing in the present moment feel as if all of those sore throats and snivels which I managed to miss have all decided to come forth at once!

I happen to have one of those personalities which adapts easily to circumstances; if something good happens I enjoy it and if something bad happens I just get on with it. A kind of what will be, will be attitude with a twist; the twist is that if there is a way to think more positively about whatever is going on then that is the attitude I will choose to take.

It is because of this positive attitude of mine that I was so surprised when I managed to catch this cold. Usually everyone around me can succumb and I will remain in good shape; I really do not expect to catch colds. But when I do catch something, boy, I catch it! I never cease to be surprised by individual peoples reactions to colds. So many people automatically assume that it is the flu that you or they have got; rarely does anyone refer to the common cold. What is this? Surely you donot prefer to have a simple cold as opposed to the flu? I know that is what I prefer. Would not it feel better to have a more positive attitude?

I have only spoken with a couple of people today about this cold of mine. One asked if I needed to cancel my flight which I am travelling on later today. What? Because I have a cold? They sounded as if they thought I should be hospitalized, or at the very least I should remain in bed for the best part of a week. I can only imagine the negative thinking scenarios which were running through their mind. All I am thinking about is how to try and be mosre comfortable on the plane and how to protect my seating companions from my germs.

Another person warned me that my ears will hurt, particularly when the plane is coming in to land. Now you may say that if you are warned about something you can take steps to deal with it. I say thanks a bunch for putting this negative expectation into my mind! Let face it, I cannot change the way in which a plane flies or how the human body responds on an airplane. If my ears get sore, it woll not kill me, and the pain will not last for long. Although a positive attitude is unlikely to change this natural physical reaction, it may allow me to notice the pain less. And I will definitely avoid putting myself through twelve hours of anticipatory anxiety beforehand.

What you expect to happen tends to happen. Whatever you imagine you create. This is how your mind works. So if you get a cold, it is far more helpful to think of it as a common cold, and not jump to the conclusion that you are suffering from the flu or any other types of more uncomfortable ailments. If I was to allow myself to go down the negative thinking route, I might by now be lying in bed, focusing on how dreadful I feel and suffering from panic attacks about my flight later today.

Instead of this I have armed myself with a splendid array of medicinal supplements, a box of tissues which are super soft and covered in balsam, a mask, a good book, my iPod and headphones with a lot of hypnotic mp3 recordings to help me to relax, release positive endorphins, reduce my perception of pain and to sleep well. Now that does not sound so bad, does it?
