What Can We Eat to Avoid Obesity?

What Can We Eat to Avoid Obesity?
View all articles by ContentMart Editor What Can We Eat to Avoid Obesity?

Obesity is becoming a global concern. The basic of losing weight is simple; consume less calories than you burn. Consuming more calories than we need leads to overweight. Although some foods indicate being LOW FAT, LOW CARBS, or SUGAR FREE, this does not mean we can eat unlimited servings. These products still have calories despite being rated as low. It is imperative we modify our eating habits controlling what and how much we eat, and not food controlling our lives.

Reportedly, the Mediterranean diet, a combination of lots of vegetables, grains, fruits, olive oil, and wine is one of the most balanced meals to help avoid obesity. Many researches indicate that people following a Mediterranean diet have lower disease risks and less obesity problems.

On the other hand, many research studies have indicated that wine taken in moderation is beneficial for our health. The secret is to drink in moderation. One glass of wine with our meals is fine; just be aware that a glass of wine approximately has 100 calories. You still can follow this diet even if not drinking wine. Moreover, the Mediterranean diet is even consistent with the new diet recommendations issued by the U.S. Department of Agriculture in January 2005. You may check the site at.

Ideally, eat at regular intervals, every 3-4 hours. Why? It helps to keep blood sugar levels stable. Skipping meals will not help you lose weight in the long term. Your goal is to keep that unwanted fat away, right? Hence, do not skip breakfast and add a cup of green tea to speed up your metabolism.

One advice, do not follow rigid diets or extreme low carbs. Yes, I know, I know there are low carb meals and low fat labels almost everywhere! Again, remember that low carbs and low fat DO NOT mean zero calories. Read food labels to know how many calories you are actually consuming. Me, reading labels? Yes, I am not kidding. Trust me, this habit will help you keep the weight off and enjoy a healthier figure, as you will be in control of how much you eat not food controlling you.

Furthermore, most of these quick weight loss diets and products offer only temporary weight loss. They fail in the long term because you lose lean muscle mass and body water. Surprise comes when you resume eating normal, as you tend to gain that weight back, if not add even more. The reason is that those quick diets or extreme low carb diets can slow down your metabolism.
Therefore, the best way to achieve your weight loss goal without starving is to follow a balanced menu checking your calories intake, and exercise at least 3 times a week to lose body fat. Personally, I prefer a high protein and moderate carbs, as our bodies need carbs to function properly. I can proudly say that I lost 80 pounds of unwanted fat and have kept the weight off for 3 years without starving, but eating a combined balanced meal. If I did that, so can you! The bottom line is to keep the weight off, that unwanted fat, which is so hard to get rid of, and not just have the illusion of losing weight when in reality we are losing mostly water with crash diets.

So, you might be asking, then what can I eat? Again, you can eat a balanced meal. We should eat at least 3 servings of fruit and vegetables a day to keep a healthy figure. Remember our ancestors, our mothers, and grandmothers telling us, Finish your vegetables! Well, guess what? They were right! Vegetables are a good source of vitamins, minerals and are low in calories, unlike processed food. I love vegetables, especially tomatoes with fresh basil.

Drinking 8 glasses of water a day will help your metabolism too.

Avoid cooking with lard or with heavy cooking oils, as they are high in calories and saturated fat. Excess of saturated fats is associated with colon cancer and atherosclerosis among other diseases. A better oil for cooking is mono unsaturated Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Con

Your Diet Needs to Make Sense

Your Diet Needs to Make Sense
Obesity has become one of the major health problems facing us today. Obesity will result in increased incidence of heart disease, diabetes and osteoarthritis for this population over the course of their lifetimes. Everywhere we look someone is pushing the latest diet that will help us sheds those unwanted pounds. When we watch television or read print media everyone has the most effective weight loss program for us. We have the low-calorie diet, the Miracle Diet, the Pritikin Diet and a host of others to choose from. All making claims they are the one to get you into better shape. No wonder people are confused and baffled.

At any given time 15 to 35 percent of us are trying to lose weight. We try the latest non-fat foods, go to fat farms and get involved in the latest diet program. But for all this effort and the billions of dollars spent by millions of people we are still getting fatter. The number of Americans considered to be fat is up from 25 percent in the eighties to over 33 percent of the population today.

With the New Year fast approaching many of us will resolve to loose weight only to fail in the coming weeks or months. Some will actually experience their weight loss goals but unfortunately fewer will be able to maintain it. Some of the attempts to loose weight will also come with other medical risks. People who experience repeated failure in their weight loss program will eventually loose self esteem and feel guilt.

So are all weight loss programs doomed to fail? Exactly what is going wrong? We need to separate fact from fiction when it comes to diets and weight loss. There are a few things that may help.

YOU MUST UNDERSTAND WHY PEOPLE FAIL AT THEIR DIETS
There are numerous reasons why diets fail. It is easier to understand the lack of success once we understand some of the reasons for failure.

* A diet that works for one person may not work for another. Diets are normally not individualized.

* When you deprive yourself of one thing people tend to binge on another.

* Most diets are not balanced. This has an affect on our mood,energy and concentration.

* A strict diet can lower metabolism.

* Many diet books are based on few facts, much speculation, and downright inaccuracies.

* A diet in itself does not deal with the internal problems of why a person may be fat.

This should give you a better understanding of why diets do not work. Health educators and fitness professionals need to rethink their definition of diet.
YOU MUST REDEFINE THE DIET MENTALITY

Trying to figure out the best meal plan can be very confusing because the so called scientific evidence is often not consistent. Before you jump on the next craze ask yourself a few questions.

Are the goals of this plan realistic? Are your goals realistic? If you are trying to loose 30 pounds for a reunion party next month or trying to loose enough to look good in a bikini when summer starts and it is already April, these plans are not realistic. If you start out with unrealistic plans in the beginning you are doomed to failure.

* Does the plan fit into your lifestyle?
Is your diet nutritionally balanced? Or is it a deprivation diet that you will dump in two weeks?

Is it a diet that you can follow for the rest of your life? If it is not it is probably healthier to carry around an extra 10 or 20 pounds than to loose it and gain it back 15 times.

* Is the diet individualized for you? If it is not you are doomed to failure.

WE NEED TO GET BACK TO BASICS
We know so much more about diet and nutrition than we did two decades ago. This is a field that has taken a quantum leap over a short period of time. The problem that this causes for people is how to interpret all the information that is available to us.

The United States Department of Agriculture USDA and other government agencies have assembled a group of scientists and nutritionists to help us better understand this. Along with the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association they have come out with a set of guidelines. If you are serious about loosing those pounds and getting into better shape you should visit their websites for more information.

The one theme that is consistent throughout is that we need a variety of foods. That does not mean 1 pill out of the green bottle and one out of the red bottle. Emphasis is on diets low in fats, saturated fat and cholesterol and more fruits, vegetables and fish.

If you are serious about loosing weight the first place you need to start is with the types and amounts of food you are eating.

Candida intestinal Two Powerful Fungus Fighters

Most powerful weapons for fighting intestinal fungal infections such as Candida are FOS fructooligosaccharides and L.acidophilus cultures.

FOS has been clinically documented in dozens of peer-reviewed studies for

its ability to build up the healthy intestinal flora in the colon and combat the overgrowth of negative bacteria and fungi.

Acidophilus cultures have also been shown to combat fungus overgrowth in the

gastrointestinal tract. Life 5 is an excellent source of L. acidophilus cultures, and Stevia Select is a superior source of plant-derived FOS.
Acid/Alkaline balance--Fungal Infections Candida

Fungi and yeast feed on decomposing or dead tissues. The exist everywhere: inside our stomachs, on our skin and out on the lawn. When kept under control, the yeast and fungi populating our bodies are harmless and digest what our bodies cannot or do not use.

When we feed the naturally-occurring fungi in our bodies too many acid-ash foods, such as sugar, animal proteins, and dairy products, the fungi population grows out of control. This condition is known as systemic candidiasis and is marked by fungi invading the blood,gastrointestinal tract, and tissues.

Fungal cultures like Candida excrete large amounts of poisons called mycotoxins as part of their life cycles. These poisons must be detoxified by the liver and immune system.
Eventually they can wreak enormous damage on the tissues and organs and are believed to be an aggravating factor in many degenerative diseases, such as cancer, arteriosclerosis,and diabetes.

Insufficient intake minerals and trace minerals like magnesium, potassium, and zinc may also stimulate Candida and fungal overgrowth in the body.
Symptoms of Systemic Fungal Infection:

* Fatigue/low energy

* Overweight

* Low resistance to illness

* Allergies

* Unbalanced blood sugar

* Headaches

* Irritability

* Mood Swings

* Indigestion

* Colitis and Ulcers

* Diarrhea/constipation

* Urinary tract infections

* Rectal or vaginal itch

Seven Tips for Combating Systemic Fungal Infections
Use both probiotics and prebiotics. Probiotics like Life 5 are supplements containing live cultures of beneficial bacteria such as acidophilus and bifidus. Prebiotics include supplements bifidus. Prebiotics Select that help feed them, but do not include any live bacteria.

2 Avoid yeast-promoting acidic foods foods such as meats, sugars, dairy products, mushrooms,and pickled and malted products.

3 Eat an alkaline diet. The optimum ratio should be 4 parts alkaline-ash food to 1 part acid-ash food. Garlic is excellent for controlling fungi and yeast. Other high-alkaline, fungus-inhibiting foods include green and yellow vegetables, beans, and whole, uncracked nuts. MultiGreen is a high-energy, mineral rich alkaline supplement and AlkaLime is an extremely alkaline complex of mineral salts.

4. Avoid excessive use of antibiotics. Antibiotics wipe out the beneficial bacteria in our bodies while leaving the mycotoxin-generating yeast and fungi intact.

5 Avoid stress. Emotional turmoil stresses the immune system and opens the door for fungal overgrowth. This is why Type A personalities are especially vulnerable to Candida. Reduce stress by diffusing or inhaling essential oils such as lavender, lemon, or Peace & Calming

6 Healthy thyroid function can counteract Candida overgrowth.

7 Use digestive enzyme supplements, such as Essentialzyme supplement to maximize protein assimilation. Inadequate digestion of protein can worsen Candida overgrowth and amplify symptoms. Drink a lot of water with your Enzyme so they can be absorbed.
Thrush a form of Candida

Thrush is a fungal infection of the mouth and throat marked by creamy, curd-like patches in the oral cavity. Even though it appears in the mouth, thrush is usually a sign of systemic fungal overgrowth throughout the body. Swelling of the tongue is a sign with white bumps. Plus the lips may swell with weepy sores all around the mouth. Even a feeling of fuzz can be detected in the back of the throat is Candida

Candida can be all over the body, toes, toenail, fingernails, web effect between fingers, groin area Skin can become brilliant red with scaly patches. Beside invading the inside of the body it especially like to grow in the intestinal track when the intestinal flora is low. Candida grows in the absent of amylase, low thyroid. If the digestion not working proper then it is a host for anything to set in.

Fat creates a feeding ground for Candida. Fermentation is a sign of Candida. When you have that bloated Feeling after eating a meal that is a sign of Candida. When you pass gas and you have to hold your nose that is Candida because of the fermentation. Gas with no smell no Candida. BM with acid smell, another sign of Candida,
When the body has normal enzymes the gas will be odorless which is normal. Deficient of enzymes causes the boating which is fermentation.

Ocotea oh-ko-tea

Here is what Gary shared on candida and strep elimination. 3 months ago they started a research project on 88 of the children at the school in Ecuador. They all had parasites and 36 of them also had candida. They mixed 1 drop

of Ocotea with 8 oz. of water. Then they gave 1 oz portions of this mixture to the children daily? . It killed both the parasites and the candida.
