What Makes Copal Essential Oil Young Living Therapeutic Grade?

I recently sat down with Marc Shreuder, Young Living’s Director of Product Formulation, to record the upcoming Wellness Essentials audio program. I asked him about copal essential oil and what makes it Young Living Therapeutic Grade™ (YLTG). Marc gave me some great insight into the oil that I want to share with you.

  • There are many types of copal species found throughout parts of Asia, Central and South America.
  • Young Living sourcing specialists have traveled to these regions to research which species of copal is the best.
  • Young Living found the most potent species of copal in abundant supply located in a savanna region outside the main Amazon rain forest basin.
Native healers have traditionally used copal topically to help reduce skin disorders and insect bites. Young Living Gas Chromatograph testing lends support to these historical claims, with the essential oil showing one of the highest levels of beta chariopholene, as well as optimal levels of gamma elamine and alpha humaline (shown to support DNA health).
YLTG copal has a unique story. It is not simply extracted from the tree and bottled as essential oil. Copal essential oil is extracted from the resin from the copaiba trees using a special low heat, low atmospheric pressure process. And with no traditional heating and pressure distillation process, copal is also one of the most pure and potent essential oils available.
As you may know, copal is a key ingredient in the Deep Relief™ and Breathe Again™ Roll-On blends. If you haven’t tried these incredible blends, pick a few up for yourself. The Breathe Again Roll-On is part of a three-pack this holiday season (including Tranquil™ and Valor®). If you’re one of the lucky first to try Breathe Again, please comment on my post and let me know what you think.
